Nostalgia is a university-set brief on exploring the idea of a ‘Road Trip’ through the medium of photography. I explored the idea of a phenomenon I dub as second-hand nostalgia, which is a peculiar feeling when one visits their second home. There is a strange familiarity in the landscapes we see, but also a familiar strangeness (defamiliarization). From the schools we never attended, to the flats and homes we’ve never grown up in, to the lost customs within the culture. This is a trip of revisiting and finding comfort within a culture that we are assigned to from our ethnicity, but are culturally unfamiliar with.
